Management
Rurungan.org is powered by WordPress, an open-source, international, community-developed, not-for-profit software tool for managing websites. All maintenance and content are provided and managed by members of RSTF in the Philippines.
Design
The first Rurungan.org website was launched in 2001. The current website, launched in June, 2007, was designed by Raneen Nosh with coding by Jeff Werner, both students of the Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design in Vancouver, Canada. The website was built using a combination of tools: Adobe Photoshop CS2, Fireworks MX; Apple TextEdit; Bare Bones Software TextWrangler, Microsoft Word, and Mozilla FireFox, running between two MacBook Pro 15″ laptops.
Standards-based
Rurungan.org was constructed, as much as possible, to support accessibility requirements, for example blind users, or users with limited internet connections. Efforts are made to offer content and code that is low on bandwidth (it loads faster) and incorporates standards-based XHTML and CSS (the background coding that provides for easier maintanence, faster loads times, better search engine indexing and support for users with disabilities).
